She studied briefly at Istituto Marangoni, where she learned that fashion has rules. Then she came home and forgot them.

What she kept: a belief that clothes are not worn — they are inhabited. That a woman shouldn't dress for the season. She should dress for the version of herself she hasn't met yet.
